This form must be completed in its entirety.
The following 4 documents must accompany your registration:
- Medical Waiver Form
- Player’s Code of Conduct
- Parents Code of Conduct
- Uniform Order form (if needed)
These documents can be found after the completion of this form. The Player Code of Conduct requires your child's signature.
Medical Waiver: As the parent/guardian of the above mentioned child, I authorize my child’s participation in all activities of the Rec Council. I assume all risks incidentals to such participation both during an activity and in route, and do hereby hold harmless the county commissioner, the city of Frederick, Department of Parks and Rec, and Ballenger Creek Rec Council, and the staff, coaches, volunteers, and participants. I grant permission for emergency 1st aid to be administered to my child. (Medical Waiver form must be signed and turned in.)

Checks returned from the bank will carry a $35.00 return fee and result in the suspension of the player from all team activities until the situation is resolved.

PARTICIPATE IN ANY COMMUNITY CHARITY EVENTS?
WHAT IS
EVALUATIONS &
SKILLS
Evaluations/Skills nights are for kids that are new to the league, for kids who’s last year coach is not returning, or for kids that wish to change teams. This night will give the coaches an opportunity to assess your child’s skill level.

Players should check-in at the Registration Desk and get a draft number (applied to front & back of shirt).

Fundraisers are needed to help defray the costs of the program, to help purchase new equipment, and to offer hardship scholarships to struggling families. Fundraisers will be announced and posted on the website.

A TEAM?
WHEN ARE
Games are typically played on the weekends and can start any time between 9am and 7pm. If a weekend game is canceled, a make-up game can be scheduled on a weeknight.
Games are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes long with 4 eight minute quarters. Half time is approximately 10 minutes long but may be reduced by the officials to keep the game on schedule.

At the moment, BCRC Basketball is only accepting personal check and cash payments. We hope to resolve our online payment issues.

CHILD PLAY EACH GAME?
BCR has a 50/50 play rule which means that all kids on the team will be played equally during the regular season. The coach will make every attempt to play the kids equally but be patient and lenient . . . the coaches are, after all, only human!
During playoffs and championships, the coach will play all the kids but the amount of playtime is based on the coach’s discretion. If you have a question about playing time, it is up to you to address the situation with your child’s coach at the appropriate time.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY
Checks returned by your bank will carry a $35 administration fee along with the amount needed to make good. Your child will be suspended from practices and games until the funds are made good by cash or money order only.

Yes. Part of the funds raised each year is earmarked to assist up to 12 families (who have fallen on hard times) with their registration fees.

All requests will be kept strictly confidential and you will be notified if you have been chosen to receive a partial scholarship.

BCRC has a NO REFUND policy. Refunds will only be considered for emergency medical situations and must be requested in writing and are subject to league approval.
If approved, the amount will be pro-rated accordingly.

Team pictures are taken in mid-December and are delivered to the league around the 3rd week of January. Orders are given to the coaches for distribution to the parents/players.

Yes. Your child is part of the team and needs to be in the team picture for those families wishing to purchase pictures. The team pictures are also given to the coaches as a “thank you” and they are displayed on the website.

HOW OFTEN IS
There are typically two 1-hour practices per week. The practice time can begin any time between 5pm and 9pm.
Practice days and times are established once teams are formed and take into consideration the Coach’s availability, facility availability, and the age of the children on the team.
The practice schedule established for your team will be consistent throughout the season unless it becomes necessary to reschedule due to school closings. Shorts, tee shirt, and basketball sneakers should be worn for practices. The practice schedule and addresses can be found by clicking here.

Registration is currently open for the 2018/2019 season.
Online registration is preferred & strongly encouraged. Online registration is open anytime between Sept. 25th - October 24th.
If you are unable to register online, you can register by mail (see “Contact Info” page for mailing address), or in person by APPOINTMENT ONLY at the Evaluations/Skills night (around the 3rd week of October), however, those that register online will be given TEAM ASSIGNMENT PRIORITY. The schedule will be posted on the REGISTRATION PAGE of the website.

REGISTRATION BEGIN?
DOES THE
LEAGUE VALUE
Yes. Your good conduct (as a parent) during practices and games is expected. You set the example for good sportsmanship for the players, so please refrain from baiting the referee’s, opposing players and coaches. The referee has the power to assess technical fouls on parents, as well as, players and coaches. Should the situation warrant it, they may also demand a spectator to leave the premises for misconduct. Forfeiture of the game will occur if the person does not vacate the premises. Any parent ejected from a game will automatically be banned from the next game.
GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP?

REGISTRATION FEES COVER?
Registration fees pay for gym rentals, referee’s, equipment, trophies/awards, volunteer coaches uniform shirts, league participation fees, etc.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT
TEAM MY CHILD IS ON?
Teams are assembled the last week in October after the evaluation/skills nights. The coaches assess the player’s skill level and begin drafting players to form their teams. The rosters are delivered to the coaches around the 1st of November.
The coaches will contact their players to introduce themselves, inform them of their practice nights, location of practice, and time.

HOW LONG IS THE
There will be 9-10 games during the regular season. The 1st game for all teams begins the first Saturday in December.
The regular season will end the third weekend in February with playoffs and championships being played the last week of February and the first week of March.

There will be 2 Coaches Clinics held – one in late October and one in late November. New coaches are required to attend at least one of the clinics but are strongly encouraged to attend both. It is optional for BCRC returning coaches (with at least 2 prior years with the league), but encouraged. The clinics will be approximately 2 hours long.
VOLUNTEER TO COACH
ARE THERE OTHER WAYS THAT I CAN
Consider volunteering for scorekeeping, clock running, or team mom. All help is greatly appreciated and is a great way to get really involved in your child’s team.
HELP?
DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE TO
KEEP SCORE OR RUN A CLOCK?
Prior experience is always helpful but not a must. The coach can sit with you and give you a lesson on how to keep the score book or how to run the clock. All parents will be asked to help out with at least one game in some capacity.
WHAT DOES A
The Team Parent helps the coach with the administrative function sending weekly emails to the team reminding them of practice and game schedules, picture dates, fundraising info, coaches charity game, etc.
The coach may ask for assistance in recruiting help for the scorebook and the clock. The team Parent also helps the coach plan the end-of-season team party.
